Free eBook 2 day promotion - The Keeper: Awakening by O.L. Ramos

I've not read The Keeper yet, but it sounds pretty good!

"Elizabeth is a brilliant loner with a troubling secret she doesn't even know. As if the trauma of her mother being abducted before her eyes as a young girl wasn't enough, the small town she lives in thinks she’s crazy. That all changed when she met Michael, a mysterious and handsome man who identified with her like no one else before. Michael’s long time friend Vincent visits and drops the bombshell of a lifetime on Elizabeth and her world becomes completely unraveled. Vincent’s information has revealed the world for what it is; a place where the impossible is real, and myths and legends walk slyly in shadow. A world that Elizabeth will learn she too is a member. Now, the three are caught up in a thousand year long conspiracy they never could have imagined. The three must rely on one another and the secret connection they all share if they have a chance to survive."

Today Only - Wings of Arian is FREE!

That's right! This amazing fantasy novel is FREE on all eBook purchasing sites TODAY ONLY!

"Kiora thought she had never heard a lie until she was sixteen. But she was wrong. Her entire existence was based on nothing but. She thought that evil did not exist. Lie. That magic was not real. Lie. And that the land of Meros was all there was. One more lie.
With Aleric telling her that evil is knocking on the door and that she is the only one who can stop them she has a choice to make. Refuse, or start the wildest most painful ride of her life.
She reluctantly dips her toe into her new existence of magic and threads, dragons and shapeshifters, and the person who wants to take control of it all: the evil Dralazar.
However, this journey was never meant to be hers alone. She will be accompanied by a Protector. To her disbelief, and utter irritation they name the hotheaded, stubborn, non -magical, (albeit gorgeous) Prince Emane. They will have to trust each other with their lives, but right now Kiora would settle for a non hostile conversation.
And now it comes down to this, If you had never heard a lie, would you know when you heard one? Is knowing good from evil innate? Kiora finds herself having to decide who lives and who dies on those very questions."

It's Monday! What are you reading?

'It's Monday! What are you reading?' is a great meme hosted by Book Journey
to showcase what you've been reading
AND potentially have your next 'I HAVE TO READ THAT!" moment =)

Over the weekend I started rereading the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. My sister gave me the box set for Christmas, and I finally cracked it open. The covers are so pretty! I finished The Iron Daughter and Winter's Passage over the weekend, so I'm just going to chug along and finish it out.

And MAYBE I'll get to finally read The Lost Prince! If not this week, you'll see it again on next weeks post.

While I've got you here, would you help me out? I'm going on vacation on the 24th, and I've got a bunch of AWESOME books saved up for the trip. Problem is, they are ALL so awesome that I can't decide what to read first. Would you take the poll on the right to help me? Whichever one gets the most votes wins, and I'll probably just read from the vote count.

Thanks so much!

I'm excited to see what you guys are reading! =)

Review - The Tree House by Shay Lynam

The Tree House by Shay Lynam
Paperback, 260 pages
Published March 2013
Goodreads
"Hailey is an average twenty-year-old college student, living an average life. Or so she thought. When a past she never knew existed is brought to light, the reality she thought she knew is shattered and she is left alone to pick up the pieces. Who could know this world holds such evil? Who is this strange, obscure boy who seems to know more than he is saying? And what can one girl do when a fight to stay alive turns into a fight to avenge and protect the ones she loves?'

The Tree House is the thrilling first book author Shay Lynam, I am so excited to be one of the first handful of bloggers to have read The Treehouse! I know a lot of my fellow book bloggers would be leery of taking a chance with a first time self-published author without having any ratings to go by, but I am SO GLAD that I did! Shay Lynam is an extremely promising writer with an amazing talent for storytelling.

I read this book in two days, and that is quite a feat for me with having an almost nine month old daughter. There was so much tension and suspense, it was seriously hard to put down! The writing style was very relaxed and easy to read. I don't think there was a single character that I didn't like (unless they were bad guys, obviously). I loved how Hailey dealt with everything that went down. She was tough, but also vulnerable and kind. Jack was just the right amounts of snarky and sweet that made him likeable, and my heart ached for the reason behind his mood swings. The chemistry between them was great. Lynam is definitely not afraid to take risks. There is a pretty high body count for a story that takes place in the span of a few weeks, and let me tell you, I choked up quite a bit for a few of them. Even though it sucked because I was a little attached (which is a good thing), I loved that it made Hailey and Jack stronger, both individually and together.

The only issues I had were the few times when the location of a scene would change without any actual transition from the narrator. Not a big deal, but something I noticed. Two things I need to GUSH about are a) the cover, and b) the book trailer. The cover for The Tree House is PERFECT for the story. The black, gray and white of the alley make me feel like it's ME running from the enemy! I don't think I've ever had that happen with a book cover before, so it's pretty cool. When Shay first contacted me for a review, she sent a link for the book trailer. I've been blogging for a few years now, and I don't usually get pumped for indie book trailers. Usually it's some animated weirdness with a sappy song overtop. Not the case here! My husband and I actually watched it on our TV, and we were super impressed with it. This trailer (posted below) must have taken hours and hours to film and edit. It was SO well done! Oh, and speaking of songs! There is a playlist at the end of the book, and I got really excited when I saw a couple of my favorite bands (Snow Patrol and Blindside)! I kinda want to be BFFs with Shay. Not even kidding.

Shay Lynam has so much potential. I loved this book, and I will be promoting it as much as possible! It's available in paperback and eBook format (as of the date of this review, it's .99 cents!). I'm not sure if The Tree House is a standalone or first in a series because the plot twist of an ending could go either way. Regardless, I am Team Lynam all the way, and will be eagerly awaiting whatever she has up her sleeve!
