Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi – [Book Review]

Since I’ve been out of the blogging/bookish world for a little while due to ze bebe, I didn’t even know this novella existed! I realized that Unravel Me was due to publish soon, and wanted to read Shatter Me again to refresh myself and be ready to jump right into the next part of the story. A quick Amazon search to purchase it for my Kindle revealed Destroy Me…and I am so, so glad.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?! WHY am I feeling so bad for Warner?! It all started during one of the last scenes of Shatter Me. I couldn’t stop picturing it, feeling all the emotion of getting caught up in it. Tahereh Mafi is a freaking mastermind, guys. I like Adam. I really, really do, (I have not read UM yet, so please don’t tell me anythinggg!) but I guess I’ll just always be a sucker for the damaged, bad boy. Plus, all the indicators from Ms. Mafi, there’s a lot more going on with him that we don’t even know at this point. I read this in one sitting, which is actually quite an accomplishment when you have a 6 month old child. Mafi completely lured me in me into the crazy, narcissistic mind of Warner…and he wouldn’t let go.

People always wonder whether or not they should bypass the ‘.5’s of a series. I usually read them because there’s usually a reference in the following book, and I’m too nosey to not need to know what happened. I definitely urge you to read this one, even if you’ve already read Unravel Me.
